For Randstad, data is the backbone of their mission of providing staffing solutions to companies. However, working with hundreds of thousands of people and a multitude of channels can lead to a cacophony of data. Find out how Randstad uses SAP Data Warehouse Cloud to create a connected data landscape and generate invaluable business insights.
How Randstad Creates a Connected Data Landscape

Defining the Data Problem
At Randstad, relevant data comes in many different forms. There’s Salesforce, SAP BW, social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook), and even data from government sources, such as Germany’s Federal Ministry of Labor. This data is spread across various cloud and on-premise data sources.
Randstad’s existing data management setup simply wasn’t doing what they needed it to do. For starters, not all of the data was consolidated in one place. Also, Randstad had to use an expensive third-party adaptor to sync some — but not all — of their data sources.
For business users, this setup also wasn’t working. It’s the business users that need to access the data in order to unlock hidden insights that can shape Randstad’s short and long-term strategy. However, this complex setup was a challenge. The interface of the product was unintuitive and complicated, which slowed down business users. These users wanted something easy to use — they wanted true self-service capabilities.
If Randstad was going to accomplish all this, they wanted to make sure that they could use their existing resources — such as BW — and avoid rebuilding all their complex authorization models. These models have proven to be extremely effective and recreating them would be a duplication of what they already accomplished.
Another important objective was to cut down on data redundancy as much as possible and not just move everything into the cloud. They wanted to “connect” to their data, and not just “collect” it.
Delivering Insights That Matter
SAP Data Warehouse Cloud enabled Randstad to create end-to-end visibility of their data landscape. Thanks to the virtualization capabilities of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, Randstad could connect their sources without creating redundancies or persisting data.
These different sources were combined and modeled in a way that made sense to business users with the business layer. This feature synced all data so it could be easily used by business users.
Randstad’s adoption of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud went smoothly. The intuitive interface combined with the high performance both helped drive adoption. One of the other benefits was that this solution built off the company’s existing experience with SAP Analytics Cloud.
